Scientific Interests:

We are studying the molecular cell biology of Leishmania. Leishmania are parasitic protists that are transmitted by blood-feeding sand flies and cause the neglected disease leishmaniasis. We use a combination of molecular biology, CRISPR gene editing and bioimaging methods to study parasite biology and host-parasite interactions. Current projects in the lab investigate the structure and function of the parasite flagellum and the function of proton pumps in the parasite cell.
