Pletzer, Daniel

Researcher Name: Pletzer, Daniel

Research Area(s): Microbiology

Affiliation: University of Otago

Country: New Zealand

Website

Scientific Interests:

I have dedicated my career to addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR). My passion is bacterial pathogens that have been categorized as ‘critical’ by the World Health Organization and includes drug resistant organisms that cause severe and often deadly infections. Our understanding of the molecular basis for infectious diseases is growing and although we are rapidly identifying new therapeutic drug compounds, their clinical translation is often hampered by the difficulties associated with providing efficacy in complex models of infection. To overcome this barrier, my team explores the molecular mechanisms underlying how bacteria cause disease and develops cutting-edge antimicrobial tools that remain active under challenging conditions in the lab and live animals.

This offer applies to trainees/researchers eligible for the following fellowships
