Scientific Interests:

The laboratory focuses on examining the physical properties of the cell membrane and investigating the molecular mechanisms involved in the interaction between drugs and the cell membrane. To facilitate our research, we employ model membranes such as liposomes, supported bilayers, and black lipid bilayers. Furthermore, we employ various biophysical techniques for characterizing these membranes, including atomic force microscopy, dynamic light scattering, electrophysiology, fluorescent techniques both in solution and under microscopy. Recently, we have also utilized molecular dynamics simulations to study the interaction between peptides and lipid membranes. One of our major research areas involves the exploration and development of new antimicrobial peptides that possess specific selectivity towards bacterial membranes. We also aim to investigate the underlying molecular mechanisms responsible for the membrane selectivity exhibited by these peptides.
