Scientific Interests:

We are interested in answering compelling biological questions to do with how G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) couple to their transducers.

GPCRs are the largest family of cell surface receptors, with about 890 members in humans, they are involved in almost all aspects of physiology and patho-physiology, yet they only couple to a relatively small number of primary transducers.

This immediately poses the question: how is it that these receptors appear to have non-overlapping functions?  What goes wrong in pathological conditions and can we understand the underlying biology well enough to inform useful interventions?

We ask these kinds of questions in the context of GPCRs that are involved in the physiology or patho-physiology of metabolism and the gut-brain axis, including feeding reward and more recently Parkinson‘s Disease.
