Researcher Name: Herrera-Estrella, Alfredo (He / Him)
Research Area(s): Signal Transduction
Affiliation: Centre for Research and Advanced Studies
Country: México
Scientific Interests:
We are intensely involved in identifying signaling molecules involved in plant-microbe and fungus-fungus interactions and their effect on gene expression. We use as a model the soil fungus Trichoderma atroviride, which has been used as a biocontrol agent against phytopathogens thanks to its mycoparasitic activity against phytopathogenic fungi, its capacity to trigger plant defense responses and stimulate plant growth. In addition, we are currently studying putative fungal hormones with the goal of identifying the corresponding receptors. To carry out our studies we have developed multiple tools to manipulate the Trichoderma genome, we have also generated a chromosome-level genome assembly of its genome and hundreds of transcriptomic data.
