Melissa Mutepfa is an undergraduate student in her final year of training from 2026 to 2027 at the University of Zimbabwe in Zimbabwe, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Science Honors Degree in Biochemistry and Biotechnology specializing in Plant Biochemistry and Medicinal Chemistry. Conducting her research within the university’s Biotechnology Lab, her academic training focuses on utilizing locally available natural resources to address critical food safety and public health challenges. Her final-year project aims to develop and validate a cost-effective, sustainable mycotoxin-binding agent from Zimbabwean agro-industrial waste to prevent chronic public health risks like liver cancer and immune suppression caused by food contamination.
