The General Assembly of the IUBMB
The activities of the IUBMB are governed by the General Assembly of the Union, which is composed of delegates from each of the Adhering Bodies and the Executive Committee. An Ordinary General Assembly takes place once every three years and meets in conjunction with the International Congress of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology arranged under the auspices of the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
The General Assembly elects the Executive Committee, the Nominating Committee and the Auditors of the Union’s finances. It receives the activity reports of the members of the Executive Committee, an audited statement of the income and expenditure, decides on the budget and determines the dues of membership to the Union.
The General Assembly decides on changes and amendments of the Statutes and By-Laws, admits new members or associate members or can terminate membership to the Union. The rules of procedure of the General Assembly are detailed in the Statutes and By-Laws of the IUBMB.
