Young Scientists Forum 2007 (YSF)
The International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) and Brazilian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SBBq) have organized the Young Scientists Forum, held during the 10th IUBMB Conference in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil, a joint event with the 36th Annual SBBq Meeting, also sponsored by the Panamerican Association for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (PABMB).
Undergraduate and graduate students, as well as post-doctoral trainees and young researchers under the age of 35 were encouraged to apply for support within the Young Scientist Forum. The selection committee has received 137 applications from scientists from 32 different countries and with an average age of 30.6 years.
This Forum has offered extensive opportunities for the 20 selected final, highly qualified, candidates from all over the world to share and exchange scientific experience, to present their work at a high scientific level and to interact with international senior scientists. The 20 participants of the Young Scientists Forum have presented their findings orally, and have received substantial financial support provided by funds from the joint IUBMB and Sigma-Aldrich Corporation travel scholarships and the SBBq.
